Be good to yourself

Self care is not a luxury it’s a necessity. Most of us put ourselves last and everything else first. The needs of others are not more important than our own needs.

How is your relationship with yourself?

Do you check in and ask yourself how you are feeling?

What have you done for yourself to let your body know you are important?

It’s important that we do what makes us happy.  When we are happy and grounded we are healthier and stronger.  We can listen more and be more aware of our environment which makes us better people, partners, friends and parents.

What good are you to others if you are dehydrated- hungry – sick – stressed – depressed- unhealthy?

You must check in everyday to make sure you are getting what you need in order to take care of those around you. Be good to yourself my friends. You deserve it!

Eyes wide open

Do you go through life with yours eyes open keeping your destiny in mind?  Knowing that every moment in life will get you closer to your end goal?  Most of us walk around with our eyes shut making excuses on why we are not happy in life.

The excuse not to go to the gym to maintain good health.  The excuse not to take risks and better yourself.  These excuses are holding you back.

Nothing good comes out of feeding your mind with negative thoughts.  It only makes you sick and adds unnescessary stress to your life.

Take control of your life, happiness and health by letting go of unhealthy thoughts and negative beliefs.

Speak kindly to yourself, allow yourself to be enough and remember  you are in control of your destiny.

Begin with having the the end result in mind and reach for the stars.

Making good food choices

Yesterday my daughter asked me for a cookie. I was happy to give her a treat because she has been so good dealing with my injure.  My husband intervene saying it was too early for junk food please have a banana instead.  I tried to explain to him that its a mini oreo cookie but he didn’t want to hear it.  At that point my daughter who already had the cookie in her hand threw out the cookie  and took the banana for her snack.  I was so proud that our 23 month old daughter made the right food choice and knew the difference between good food and processed junk.

It’s not always easy to distinguish healthy vs processed food.  I mistakenly ate foods that I thought were good for me but then harmed my skin and metabolism.  In my 20 and 30s I suffered from severe eczema and believe stress and diet had a lot to do with it.  I thought I was eating healthy foods but the more I researched my food choices the more I learned how processed the food was.  I would buy quick and easy food choices such  as  kabashi-purdue chicken nuggets- turkey cold cuts- 90 second cooked rice  – cooked chicken, spinach and feta burgers.  So much of the food I was eating was processed food that my body was not able to break down.

My husband and I keep each other in check with making healthy food choices.  Our meal plan for the week consists of fresh fruits and vegetables,  fresh lean meats, eggs, pasta, chicken broth base soups, stir frys, and fish (salmon or cod).  We always enjoy cooking together and making our own meals allows us to make good food choices that benefits our taste buds, bodies and minds.

Due to my injure we decided to start using blue apron.  Our first order will arrive on Valentine’s Day. This will take out the guess work out of “what’s for dinner” and save us time by not having to go to the grocery store.   Also will bring more excitement to our normal dinners by introducing new receipes with all  fresh ingredients will help us eat healthy too.
